Meet Rev. Scott Sager

Pastor Sager was born in Hanover, PA in 1964.
He graduated from South Western High School
in 1982. Rev. Sager earned a degree in Religion
from Messiah College in 1985 and received
a Master of Divinity degree from
Bangor Theological Seminary, Bangor,
Maine in 1988.

Prior to being called to St. Davids in 1993,
Rev. Sager and his wife, Patti
(also an ordained minister) served
as co-pastors at a two-church charge
in Danville and Bloomsburg, PA.

The Sagers have been married since 1983 and have two teenage sons who are also active participants in the life of St. Davids.

Pastor Sager - "I count it a great blessing to be able to serve a church near to where I grew up and close to both our families."

Our History

1753

The German Reformed Congregation met in the first church, constructed of logs, near the present site.

1775

The land on which the present church stands was granted to the Union Church (German Lutheran and German Reformed), now the United Church of Christ (UCC), for 5 shillings by Thomas Penn, son of William Penn, during the reign of King George III.

1781

A larger building was erected near the old cemetery.

1867

The brick church with a gallery was built.

1891

West Manheim Charge was formed which consisted of St. Bartholomew's and St. David's.

1900

Bethel and St. Paul's (Dubs) Church were added to the West Manheim Charge. One minister served 4 congregations, with 2 churches having worship on alternate Sundays. St. David's was a Union congregation and a Reformed service was held one Sunday and a Lutheran service on the alternate Sunday.

1914

Present edifice was erected and an education wing was added to the present structure in 1951.

1977

The Union association with the Lutheran Congregation was dissolved.

1978

The Marburg Charge was formed with Bethel UCC.

1984

The Marburg Charge was abolished. Rev. Robert Myers became St. David's first full-time pastor.

1993

In 1993 our present Pastor, Rev. Scott Sager, was called to St. David's and continues to serve our congregation.
